Protective Face Masks For Health Care Providers
Sew Good Goods is working with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and Treadle Yard Goods to sew protective masks for local health care providers.

THIS IS AN URGENT NEED!
Instructions for sewing the masks are provided below. This is a CDC compliant design the use of which has been approved by area providers.

A few notes about fabric and supplies:
-
Be sure to use fabric that is 100% cotton (tightly woven for the front, flannel or other soft 100% cotton for the back). If you have any doubts about the content of your fabric, please do not use it.
-
Please prewash all fabric on hot and dry on high heat. This step is to ensure pre-shrinkage. Area providers will sanitize the masks.

-
The instructions involve the use of elastic. If that is not available, you can use fabric ties (self-made ties, bias tape or twill tape), one in each of the four corners. Each tie should have a finished length of 18 inches. The link below titled Detailed Sewing Instructions with Pictures outlines how to make fabric ties.

If you would like to help but are in need of supplies, kits are currently being assembled by Treadle Yard Goods in St. Paul. Kits include supplies for sewing multiple masks, and are available free of charge thanks to generous donors and supporters. Please email sewgoodgoods@gmail.com to check on kit availability. If a kit is not immediately available, we will gladly add your contact information to our waiting list!
